]]>Along with a new clothing line, we just received a shipment of brand new Lodis clutches and our Havaianas Flip Flops have now arrived, just in time for summer! The next couple of days should be a very exciting and busy time for Mode. With the kick off of our Open Late Thursdays, Trolley Night on Friday, and the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, there will be ample time for you to come check out all the new must haves for this season. As always, thanks for stopping by and checking out what’s going on. This summer is shaping up to be a great time to shop!!
This is one of our great Clione dresses paired with a Lodis handbag. We think it’s a pretty great combination.
]]>Starting this Thursday we are kicking off a new tradition at our downtown location. Every Thursday we will be staying open until 8pm and serving wine and cheese so that our working customers can stop by and enjoy a relaxed after work shopping experience. This Thursday, Tyiese Scarpa will also be open until 8 as they are having their Shoe Happy Hour. As part of our Open Late Thursdays, we are selling our new brand, Clione, at 20% off.
This Friday night is Trolley Night once again! It also happens to be Runway Boutique’s one year anniversary so we’ll be celebrating in style with them. We’ll have free wine and beer from 6-9pm and all of the shops and galleries will be open all over the district. The weather forecast is calling for sunny skies so we should have a great night for walking the streets. The Memphis Music Foundation is also having a grand opening so they will have live music and free food and drinks for everyone on the street. As always, the South Main Association will be set up next to us with Bosco’s Beer and food for all of their members. If you haven’t joined, check out www.southmainmemphis.org to see all of the great things they do for our neighborhood. This trolley night is shaping up to be a blast, so don’t get left out of all the festivities. We’ll see this Friday at 6pm!
As part of our continued efforts to cater to the working woman, we are going to be hosting Have Lunch On Us specials every month. Keep checking with us to see when your office is selected to come Have Lunch On Us and take advantage of special savings and free food. If you would like your office to be included in these special events, please feel free to email us and let us know!

]]>Here is a list of a few of my favorite prints and patterns that I have seen for spring and summer:
Florals: Nothing screams “warm sunny days are here!” like floral prints. Now, I know what you are worrying - 80’s Muave hydranges on a puff sleeve dress? Don’t worry, floral patterns can be very pretty or funky without looking dated.
Pucci: This term has been coined from the designer Pucci to describe colorful, swirly prints that remind us of the retro Pucci designs. I particularly love this print on little shift dresses.
Geometric Prints: With the right color and size, geometric prints can be so cute!
You will see many of these prints in the collections Mode is carrying for Spring/Summer 2008!
]]>Pantone, Inc. provides the standard for color. Don’t ask me how, but they predict fashion colors for the upcoming seasons at least a year in advance. Here is what Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute has to say about Spring 08.
“Stabilizing neutrals combined with pops of brighter colors to create unique, distinctive looks are the basis for a great spring and summer wardrobe.”
With that said, let’s start with neutrals: Beige, grays and khakis are the neutrals for Spring 08. Think safari and exotic, tribal influences here.
By properly matching these neutrals with the hottest spring colors, you will look chic and put together. Some of my favorite colors from the Pantone top 10 colors for spring are: Snorkel Blue, daiquiri green(a pale, 60’s green) , silver gray, freesia( a neon yellow) and golden olive ( a mustard yellow).
Here are a few favorite color combinations from Michael Kors, Zac Posen, Yigal Azrouel and Betsey Johnson:
- earthbound neutrals such as wheat, army and maple contrasting with shaken red, canary yellow and aquarille.
- cool colors mixed with fresh citrus colors such as aqua and lemongrass
- shocking brights with the prettiest pales
- pops of lemon yellow, tangerine orange and flamingo pink
Lastly, I would like to address the issue I have with neon colors. You will be seeing a lot of neon green, yellow and purple this spring and summer…which is great ( IN SMALL DOSES!) Please, don’t think that you will look good in a solid neon yellow dress, nobody does. Instead, add neon accessories like this purse from Muse or these shoes from Tyiese Scarpa ( all located in the Shops and Galleries of South Main) I really like this shirt with a touch of neon green we have at Mode du Jour.
]]>And don’t forget that Trolley night is this Friday, Jan. 25th. from 6 to 9p.m.
