Although fall is officially my favorite season, I love spring for it’s color! Well kids, spring is almost here and stores are starting to be filled with fun, colorful spring fashion. Would you like to know the hottest colors and trends for spring? Well I’ve gotcha covered.
Pantone, Inc. provides the standard for color. Don’t ask me how, but they predict fashion colors for the upcoming seasons at least a year in advance. Here is what Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute has to say about Spring 08.
“Stabilizing neutrals combined with pops of brighter colors to create unique, distinctive looks are the basis for a great spring and summer wardrobe.”
With that said, let’s start with neutrals: Beige, grays and khakis are the neutrals for Spring 08. Think safari and exotic, tribal influences here.
By properly matching these neutrals with the hottest spring colors, you will look chic and put together. Some of my favorite colors from the Pantone top 10 colors for spring are: Snorkel Blue, daiquiri green(a pale, 60’s green) , silver gray, freesia( a neon yellow) and golden olive ( a mustard yellow).
Here are a few favorite color combinations from Michael Kors, Zac Posen, Yigal Azrouel and Betsey Johnson:
- earthbound neutrals such as wheat, army and maple contrasting with shaken red, canary yellow and aquarille.
- cool colors mixed with fresh citrus colors such as aqua and lemongrass
- shocking brights with the prettiest pales
- pops of lemon yellow, tangerine orange and flamingo pink
Lastly, I would like to address the issue I have with neon colors. You will be seeing a lot of neon green, yellow and purple this spring and summer…which is great ( IN SMALL DOSES!) Please, don’t think that you will look good in a solid neon yellow dress, nobody does. Instead, add neon accessories like this purse from Muse or these shoes from Tyiese Scarpa ( all located in the Shops and Galleries of South Main) I really like this shirt with a touch of neon green we have at Mode du Jour.
